Just a quick one to let you know Eve and I really enjoyed our short stay at Thorntoloch. It really is a hidden gem. We were very impressed with the set up and the cleanliness of the amenities. We will definitely be returning. Thank you. Regards David.

I have been to Thornton Loch many times and i think its's the best caravan site in Scotland. i have had a lot of great memories and Peter and Chris (the wardens) are very nice, welcoming and friendly. They also work very hard to keep the site well maintained. The beach is amazing and it's good for dogs and kids. The site itself is very nice and very clean and the toilets are very clean too. Very good views and no other campsite is closer to the beach than Thornton Loch, always have something to do whether its for the kids or for older people and i love the bingo! PS cant wait to go back. X

Spent a week at wonderful Thorntonloch site with wife Sheila, two dogs Minnie and Magnum and our great friends the Warne family. Our second visit and the site just gets better every time - great work by Peter and Christine and a particularly warm welcome from Ray. Best day was our long walk along the beach to the rocks where we found a baby seal resting and then spotted a bunch of puffins feeding off a sandbar. The 340 mile journey from home is always worth it!!!!

Just love coming here! This is our third year camping now and We always have the best of times at Thorntonloch. No noise, no fuss, relaxed atmosphere. The kids just love it here too. They just love playing on the pristine sand dunes. Newly refurbed shower block is great. Whole site is well kept by the lovely Peter and Chris. Can't wait till my next visit to enjoy my wee haven in the midst of my busy life.

On the Thursday before the May Bank Holiday we were unfortunate enough to break down in Port William. After 2 days of being in the hands of the AA and some excellent service from Crossways Garage in Gretna we were moving again. We now had to look for new sites as we could not carry on with our original plans, so many phone calls later made by our daughter at home she finally at 9.00am on the Saturday morning told us she had found a site that had a cancellation at Thorntonloch Caravan Park, well she could have not found us a better site. We were greeted by Peter & Christina and made very welcome. We just want to say what a lovely site, very tidy and great views of the sea and everyone was so friendly. Thank you for making the rest of our holiday so perfect. John & Joan

Visited September 2011 with Julie and Anthony (see review below), and agree about the 6amp hook-up. We did manage though. This site is as close to the beautiful beach as you could get and the views from touring pitches are spectacular. The facilities are very clean and the site itself is kept very neat and tidy. The wardens were very friendly and helpful and we were made very welcome by all the static caravan owners that we met. The dog had a wonderful time too playing in the sea and on the beach. We are already planning another visit next year.Thankyou for a relaxing holiday.

We visited this site for the first time in Sept 2011. The owners were really friendly. The position we had was like a small piece of Heaven. It is such a beautiful place to have a relaxing holiday. The ampage was lower than we are used to it would have been good to have higher than 6amps but we managed just the same. Will definately be visiting this site again.

Peter and chris Just a little note to say thanks for a lovely time at your camp site last week - we enjoyed the break and the boys loved thier first camping experience - especially as they met a friend. The dog thought he had died and gone to heaven being out all day !!! The washing machine was on overdrive yesterday !! Many thanks - hope to see you again sometime Allison and Rob Drew, Aaron and Archie

We have just spent the most peaceful weekend at this site, the touring pitch we had was almost on the beach with the best views we have ever had. The staff are great and the site is well looked after, this is what caravaning/camping should be like we will be back again soon (if there is any room)

What can we say about thorntonloch-we camped for a weekend last year for the fancy dress fun day and can truthfully say was best weekend camping ever.Keith and John played their guitars in barn at night and got a great reception, the beach is probably up there in the best in scotland hence being voted every year in top 5 beaches in scotland, look out for the hidden pirate cave which we aim to explore next time with torches haha.As has been said before,if you want haven or clubs then go elswhere because thorntonloch is all about relaxiation and peace and quiet. We all cant wait to pitch up again this year-moto-Simply Thorntonloch, not haven but heaven

I've visited Thorntonloch twice in 2010 and the whole family thoroughly enjoyed the location and the gorgeous beach. What really impressed me was the warm welcome extended to us by not just Peter and Chris but also all the residents we were privileged to meet. Roll on 2011!

Visited this site with my partner in May as a trip down memeory lane, not been there for 16yrs and before that it was when i was 10 or so, we spent many family days out there with my parents and even left a well hidden time capsual..Glad to see the site had not changed and the glorious beach was still untouched. Me and my partner had a great day away from all the hustle and bustle of normal day life and its only 25mins from home. Ideal site for kids young and old, dogs also. 11 out of 10 for this site.

We spent 2 nights camping, myself my wife and the 2 kids 6 and 12,the pitch was excellent and is right a very short walk to the toilets, showers, and washing up block and games room, which has a washing machine and dryer, the site is well run ,clean and very family friendly, the beach is excellent,at high tide its golden sands and at low tide the rock pools come out and you have a new beach and only 20 seconds away:) The wardens are excellent, friendly and very infromant, they made our stay wonderfull,I would recommend this site to anyone,if your looking for a haven holiday go there, but i would have thorntonloch campsite over any of that any day of the week. Our 2 kids and dog loved the beach and had new friends every night to play with and are still raving about it.I can guarantee you will not find better.
